Purely Planting – Herbaceous Borders

Herbaceous borders make a bold statement, plants are arranged closely together to give a display that burst with colour, form and texture. The flowers are mostly summer flowering giving impact to any garden from June to August. In large gardens the borders are sited against a wall or hedge but it is possible to create  an ‘island’ herbaceous border where one can get an all round view. Plants that make up an herbaceous border  are endless and inspiring. Here are just a few. Asters, Anenomes, Hemerocallis, Heleniums, Kniphofias, Campanulas, Solidago, Sedums, Penstemon and Monardas.
