Garden Courtyard Design

A Warm Inviting Space

Brighton Courtyard

The clients brief for this garden was to have wood, gravel, stone, plants and a water feature. This garden was on a tight budget but we managed to turn this small courtyard into a warm inviting space. It was once a car mechanics garage and storage area so had no original features to work with. The garden is predominately in shade so we had to make the most of any sun the garden gets as the client is from South Carolina!

Creating a Warm Feel

Western Red Cedar and Pergola

The clients for this Brighton garden design really wanted to make the garden feel warm so we opted to use Western red cedar for the deck and pergola. This particular wood has rich tone and smells wonderfull Raised were built not only for planting but to be used as perching seats. A simple path of limestone paving set within gravel led to a storage seat which gets the morning sun.We used a simple rock water feature set in front of a framed mirror as a focal point from the kitchen diner which creates sound and movement.

“Right from the beginning Owen made the process easy. From the initial designs, to tailoring it to our specifications. Owen managed to combine all the things that we both wanted, even where they conflicted. He offered great advice, and was a delight to have around during the building process. ”
