Purely Planting – Natural Planting

Natural Planting or ’new wave planting’ is a style that mixes nature and architecture to create stunning natural style gardens. Plants of the same colour are used in swathes to meander throughout the planting scheme. Many grasses are used to great effect for creating height and also a sense of movement as they sway in the most gentle of breezes. This style of planting is later to develop coming into their own in August through to November, however they still look amazing in winter especially after frost . Piet Oudolf who is a Dutch designer and nurseyman creates breathtaking gardens using this style of planting. Some of the plants used in this style of planting are Pennisetum, Echinacea, Miscanthus, Eupatorium, Persicaria, Monarda, Aster, Calamagrotis and Digitalis.
